an aside
I’ll get back to The Text Entire later. And I hope to fold in today’s comments by Gary Kamiya about journalistic editing.
But first I (too) have one thing to say about HP7. Actually, it’s not my assertion, but Greg’s.
There are, I suppose, a good many assertions that have been made about why the near boundless success of Harry Potter may not finally indicate much that is good for publishing. And in the days prior to Saturday’s release parties, it seemed that the National Assessment of Education Progress was being cited by every naysayer in the press. But certainly HP has been much needed roadstead for bookstores.
And Greg reminded me yesterday that it is a rare and good moment any time a book becomes a cultural force in this mediated age.
